Welcome to R Cat Records

with a fondness for Kate Bush, John Lennon, and Dennis Leary, R Cat Records, a Canadian independent record label, set up shop in Edmonton, Alberta, with nothing more than two suitcases, a collection of rare Kate Bush radio promos, and an unsigned copy of Richard Branson's 'Losing My Virginity'.

this record label, R Cat Records, soon became a “purveyor of excellence in independent music”, after releasing it’s first album “Obsecurity” by Adam Lastiwka in December 2005. the artist, whose sole purpose in life was to compose and produce magnificent soundtrack albums, was signed to the new label over a few coffees whereupon it was written: ‘please deliver some more albums and we’ll see what we can do.’

by August 2008, R Cat Records had released 11 albums and signed a major licensing deal with Warner Bros who chose a track from Adam’s first album for the new Ridley Scott ‘Body of Lies’ motion picture trailer featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. we were naturally shocked and stunned because it’s such a big thing for Adam, for R Cat Records, and for the Canadian Music Industry.

all we have to do now, is find more artists, and more big things!

Various Artists - 'Because we hear voices - the On Spec magazine music anthology'
"A unique CD compilation project featuring 12 stunning tracks by R Cat artists. 'Because we hear voices' was produced in collaboration with On Spec - one of Canada's longest running science fiction and fantasy magazines. Besides the music, the album is supported by incredible artwork by acclaimed Canadian artists James F. Beveridge and Jason Dirks."

Jon Richards - 'Pangea'

"Pangea is a frighteningly amazing album that further expands upon some previously explored horizons that the likes of Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, and Jean Michel Jarre occasionaslly touched upon with widely recognized historical success. British composer Jon Richards not only expands upon those territories but also provides us with a unique and dynamically refreshing production that's been missed for so long.

Sequent 7 - 'Transgression'
"Sequent 7's fantastic skill and vision in pushing exceptional electronica compositions and arrangements to their limit is excessively evident in this incredibly engaging and inspiring album. Every conceivable perception, mood, and emotion has been more than pleasantly provoked. Understand that, whatever your expectations are in terms of electronic artist musicianship and production wizardry, well they're about to be altered quite dramatically and permanently!"

WJ Plecha - 'Redefined Infinity'
"WJ Plecha's fourth album release for R Cat Records is the first of a trilogy of recording projects that showcase Plecha's approaches to composing and producing truly inventive abstract ambient/industrial themes. In many ways and on so many levels, Redefined Infinity gives WJ Plecha's ever expanding audience a more impressionistic yet occasionally surrealistic series of landscapes to become willingly absorbed and quite happily bound by.
